With an Attitude like that?

I just got this weird call from some group calling themselves "BC Organization of Police Officers" or some such charity.
I don't really know. But they did tell me that "our" call would be recorded for quality purposes.

Then he launched into his pitch, and I was truly too tired to protest, so I listened as he used my name loudly, often, and with force.
".....blah blah.........your donation...........to underprivileged families.......AND TO KEEP VIOLENT CRIMINALS LOCKED UP BEHIND BARS WHERE THEY BELONG......."

huh? It was weird, but I let him go on. Saying my name and then repeating his rant about violent criminals again.
It stuck out like a sore thumb, so when he finally stopped to take a breath, and say, "what's best for you... $45?"
I said, "um, it sounds too political, but thanks for calling"....
he interrupts me and goes on about not understanding what I mean, and he was sure that I believed that violent non rehabilitated criminals should be behind bars.
It left such a bad taste in my mouth.
I didn't really want to hang up, but the dude was seriously not taking no for an answer, and he seemed genuinely flabbergasted that I thought he was coming on too conservative like and scary.

Perhaps I was speaking to one of these said violent criminals working inside the pen?

whatever. It's over, and I'll be continuing to screen my calls.

The most awesome John Fahey is helping me stay calm with his gorgeous guitar playing.
tell her to come back home.

Blown Fuse

Today I discovered that I cannot operate my heat gun in conjunction with the oven preheating and my strategically placed fan.
Everything whirrred to a halt, and I discovered the greatest tragedy that was my coffee stopped in mid drip.
I didn't panic though, as there are usually a few extension cords about. I've got the coffee on the mend and going to try another extension cord to another outlet.
Hopefully I won't start a fire or blow up the house by doing all this stuff.

If you don't hear from me again...

It's always better on holiday

Some things I did on my vacation:

-drank beer, too much beer, and now I will pay to work off the belly
-went to the beach. almost everyday
-swam and floated in the pool. almost everyday
-watched reality television
-went to the beach.
-reconnected with an old, dear friend.
-drove around on dirt roads at high speed.
-listened to the red winged black birds every morning.
-gardened until the sun went down, or it was time to drink beer.
-went to a family wedding which played mostly new country. bleh.
-went to the beach.
-burned stuff.

The question I am asking myself now that I have returned to the ghetto:

-what am I doing here?

Something's happenin' here...

What it is ain't exactly clear, but it's called Ladyfest, so that's cool, right?

If you're into hot church ladies, you might like Choir Practice. You can find them on myspace, or listen to Pretty, or even go see them live on the 24'th.

I'll be out of town for a couple of weeks, so I'll be missing them. boooooo
Here's another good 'un for a listen, Up all Day.

Go check them out on myspace!

Update

Wow, I just got an email with a 40% off code for Chulo Pony.
This never happens to me.

Cheers!

I guess they read my rant!
I still hate Sara McLaghlan and Moev however.

Chulo Pony Sucks

I found this amazing shop in Los Angeles called Una Mae's, and I bought these totally rad shorts there. They were SO me. Black and white herringbone, but really lightly coloured...with a touch of pink in them from a red thread....'sigh...they are fantasic.

So I washed them , and in the very first washing, the pocket became frayed where the two seams join together. It was horrific, and sad because I knew that I couldn't take them back. After the sadness came the pissed off ness. I get choked when buttons fall off of new shirts, because I'd always heard that they can't make a machine that ties a knot, and that is why buttons continuously fall off shirts. So ANYTHING that falls apart on the first washing is shite, and a major pain in the ass, full stop.

I decided to do some sleuthing and discovered that this company is Canadian, and not only that, they're from Vancouver.Even more hilarious is that they are somehow affiliated with Nettwork records. In their own words, "Chulo Pony is a women's clothing label designed from the heart of Nettwerk Music Group". Home of Sarah McLachlan and other banal acts such as Moev. I emailed them all nice and friendly like, but then the friendliness went away. Especially when they didn't even reply to my query. Maybe I should have ordered 200 pairs of their crappy shorts just to get their attention.

Sorry to get my rant on this way, but I really just need to let you all know about this heinous corporation...ha ha, ok, smallish company. I don't mind shelling out for clothes, but I despise paying for crap, and that's the way she's smelling.

Ironically, the shorts came with this beautiful little patch kit. All earth tones and cardboard, very eco friendly.

So if you're thinking about investing in any clothes with the tag Chulo Pony, be prepared to use it baby!!!
Or better yet, check out designers of quailty, like Built By Wendy.

It was inevitable

Today I saw a dead crow in the street en route.
I even went back to move him with my foot, but alas, he was gone. It was such a bummer, and I can perfectly recall the eye and the way he was lying on his back sprawled. 'sigh
I am a real softy for the little critters. Or big critters even.....if I only had the chance.

Life goes on I suppose. I considered moving him off the street but decided against it.
That would be crazy!

Corvus Diving Season has begun.

It's that time of year again when the perils of my job become more pronounced. Large crows have started diving from the sky to protect their territory and their young! I find it quite hilarious really, because no one has ever made contact with my head. They mostly just CAWWWWWWW and swoop down upon me. It's fun.

If you're super interested in crows...

Last year, I think that I may have been a contributor to the death of a baby crow when I misguidedly moved it out of harms way. Um, and then into harms way. I felt pretty crappy for awhile, then remembered that I've seen worse. Oh well, that's nature, and I'm not going to cry about it forever. I have other things to cry about now.

Here in Vancouver we have a fantastic murder of crows.

"Every evening as dusk nears, up to 10,000 crows from across the Lower Mainland make their way to a group of deciduous trees near the junction of Lougheed Highway and Willingdon Avenue. There, in the safety of numbers, they sleep. Each morning, just past dawn, they retrace the commute back to their individual territories."

It is a sight to behold.

Yay Toddler Power!!

Today I learned that having a toddler can grant you access to private washrooms that would otherwise be denied.
It's useful.
Especially when you drink a pot of coffee and then go for a walk.

Thanks toddler O mine!

Went for a super long dog walk today still in the blissful psychic space of my vacaion.
I can't believe how it feels like I've been away for much longer than 4 or 5 days...and it's not like you relax in LA, or at least we didn't. Though we always made time for a beer break on those killer hot afternoons. That's what vacations are for. Beer breaks!

Because I'm still walking around with a smile on my face, I decided to blurt out to my neighbour that I just love his art that's on a pole in front of my place. It's great, and I guess my enthusiasm showed, 'cause he said I could have it.
I dunno what this means?
Am I suppose to climb up there and take it down and hoard it lest some other person steals it first? The only time I even considered taking some public art was a piece at the corner of Main and Union, and it was literally plastered over the day after I had intended to stop there and 'liberate it'. It's a bummer, because you can still see the outline of the former painting. But that's the name of the game I guess. The thing I really love about it is that it is there, only for those who look up, and if it were to be gone, that would be sad. So for now, I'm just gonna keep on loving it.

la la LA

Tomorrow at this time I will be sitting in traffic in Los Angeles,
or mebbe devouring some delicious salsa, or tequila, or both.

But tonight, oh tonight... I will feast on these beautiful velvety mushrooms I found down the street.

Wish me luck!!

Weirdness in the City

Yesterday was a day of firsts. It was the first time that I'd ever seen a live cockroach on the bus, just hanging out at the back with me and a couple of First Nation's moms.

It was SO disgusting. The thing was obviously oblivious to us, and just happy to be riding I suppose. I guess it lives on skin and nail clippings, as this seems to be an activity that some people use to pass the time while they're riding.

Also, it was the first time that I've come within 6 feet of a Skunk mummy and her baby, which she was carrying in her mouth like a cat.
And yes...she sprayed!
Though I'm certain that had I just moved along and not shrieked like a little girl, she wouldn't have bothered being alarmed and thus in the mood to spray me. I'm just glad that I wasn't behind her, but I still found myself encircled by the harsh cloud.

I feel worse for the poor kitty that got caught in the middle of it all. But she seemed unbothered that a skunk was just hangin' out. I asked some burnout walking down the street if he smelled skunk, and he said, "Yeah, someone's venting", as if they were say gardening indoors. But I assured him that it was a REAL skunk, and we went our separate ways.
Bye burnout, bye skunk. I just love life in the city.

YAYYYYYY!

Another bad ass teen has been reunited with her initally concerned, now irate father at The Patricia!.
Sounds like this wasn't the first time the pre teen has wandered off.

And she didn't look too excited to be found at the bus stop near the PNE!

ooooooops! she's got some 'splainin' to dooooo!

Vancouver's New Ghetto Bird

Last night for a couple of hours, a bloody helicopter was flying around overhead and shining the light down onto the ground and inside of people's houses. I know this, because when I woke up to check out the noise, the bloody light of the thing shone right into my bedroom window and onto me!
What the fuck?
I can't think that Vancouver needs one of these. The police really need to focus on just doing their job on the ground and not flying around in the air fulfilling all of their voyeuristic needs. It is LAME.
There are no highspeed car chases here, or celebrities on the run, and the work is on the ground, so come on boys, get on the ground and get to work.

I thought of calling 911, but all they do there now is redirect you to their non emergency line. Another job that could be conducted on the ground and no in the air. We'll see if it continues.

Ok, that's my Sunday Morning Rant for now.

Oh, I've just heard, that a 12 year old girl disappeared from Pat's Pub last night. She went out for a walk around 6 pm, and never returned. Not to disrespect the family, but if you're going to stay at Pat's Pub, in the heart of Vancouver's biggest shame, why wouldn't the front desk at least alert you to the fact that it is teeming with drug addicts, pimps and drug dealers. Let's not forget the scores of creeps looking to buy sex, or drugs or both who endlessly circle the blocks, night and day.
Will this finally be the tipping point? Especially after what's happened around the province lately?

gonna run and hide under the bed now!

Thursday, May 18, 2006

Happily, I am wrong!

Correction. The girl has been found alive and 'well'.
The creep has been apprehended and arrested.

I won't say what I think the penalty should be.
Yee Haw!

No News Is Good News

Items in our local news this past week:

The body of a newborn infant is found in a dumpster. Infanticide is suspected.
I guess there are worse things than getting an abortion, like a mother killing her own new born infant.

A woman and her 3 children die in a fire. Arson is suspected. They were all refugees from the Congo.

An 11 year old girl disappears in small town BC going to and from the local video store. She arrived at the video store with scrapes and bruises, from a scooter spill, she cleaned herself up and was not seen again. Her scooter and video were found a block away in a parking lot. It's not uncommon for some sick bastard to just run girls off the road and kidnap them. It happened just last year.

The similarities between these 3 tragedies? Children were involved. We live in a culture that does not value children, or women. All you need to do is turn on the news to see the latest statistics. It is disgusting!!
Attitudes need to change.

Maybe it's time to break into that untouched Paxil prescription that sits in my desk drawer.

Happy Mother's Day

Just a shout out to my fantastic mother, whom I don't see nearly enough. She's always been a mom that my friends have adored,
"she's so smart", "she's so cool", etc etc
It just took me longer to realize this.
I am lucky to have her.

And mom, I promise to read that book you sent me!
...soon!

TGIF!!

Ok, this will absolutely be my last post about Islands. I can't even say that I'm a fanatic about them, but it seems like I've been blathering on about them forever. Here and there. I was surprised in the Fall when Brent Bambury named one of their songs the best for 2005. I think it was that Hallowe'en one.

So check out Don't Call me Whitney, Bobby

You certainly can't listen to too much of Islands, 'cause it's so ridiculous sometimes. I think they're playing their instruments better now. I dunno. This is not my domain, so I should quit now. All I know, is that it can equally drive you to an angry place if you aren't in the mood for it. For now, just listen and get happy!

I'm just so glad that it's Friday!!

Flashback

I just remembered that some guy came to the door today in his underwear. I had some registered mail for him.
He was standing there, behind the door, and I was SO aware that he was in his underwear. uggggh

Then I started to wonder what he was doing sitting around in his underwear at 11:30 in the morning.
I don't want to know.
It was gross, and I'm recovering.

Saturday Night's alright for fighting

We all said goodbye to kidjmaj today. I forgot about the major road construction going on around the city, and ended up in traffic hell coming back from the airport. I don't know how people deal with the driving thing everyday. The bus is really no better with all the crazies among us. There's one regular guy who is super tall and looks a bit like some classic horror movie actor. He's obviously crazy, 'cause he'll start crying and moaning at the drop of a hat. It's bizarre. It can end as quickly as it begins.
I'm obsessing about another Final Fantasy song again. There is so much to listen to, and it bugs me that I can't upload the audio to buzznet. But since I don't really spend as much time on there as I used to...(!!!)....it's probably a good thing. For now I'll just use the yousend it thing, but I'm going to explore mitya's suggestion one of these days.

Settling back into the grind of the ordinary and the hyper urban is difficult. With the warm weather, out comes unbelievable misery around this neighbourhood. It is hard to take. I'd like to just remain on psychic vacation perpetually?
I'll try and stay positive for as long as possible.

Is Public Transit the new Mental Hospital?

It's hard to stay in the zen zone when unexpected crisis arises.
That and there was a shoeless manic woman babbling at me on the Number 20 bus today. It was nuts!

kids songs reverberating.....

Every road trip has a soundtrack. It's a given.
Our road trip CD for the summer '05 camping trip was "Album" by Duplex. We mostly got it for the little one, but we immediately loved it as well.
Kids and adults are in the band. They're fantastic!

So here we are again, having just returned from Tofino, where we tried to smooth out all the wrinkles and frayed ends, but it's hard to relax with a little person tearing all around and saying and doing just exactly what she pleases.....arrgh....

So we packed her Duplex CD along again, and she couldn't get enough of it. In fact, she would DEMAND it, and then 'cause an awful scene if we tried to say no! I'm dreaming that album right now, and it's not such a good thing.
You don't need to be a kid to LOVE this album, but everyone has their breaking point, and I've reached mine. I'm gonna have to take a break for awhile, but check it out!

Here are a couple of songs about pets.
Hanu
Mr Slim
The songs will get stuck in your head, and you'll be forced to really enjoy yourself and sing in your high voice and act pretty silly to say the least.
Go and buy one !!!

I took this quiz...

Looks like I am a pretentious indie fuck!!

"You're an Indie Pop Kid. You like songs about relationships and the prettiness of nature. You're sentimental, but not certainly not emo. Oh, and if you aren't an English Major, you should be.

4563 other people got this result!
This quiz has been taken 151867 times.
3% of people had this result."

...and for the record, I do have an English degree.
You wanna try?
You know Yer Indie. Lets Sub Categorize.

RIP

adieu mon amie.
be you in the pocket of some Chinese gramma, or some cracked out toothless twenty something, I hope you at least make someone else smile...

Life is just a Fantasy

I have been listening to much Final Fantasy of late. I can't get enough really. It could be bordering on the obsessive, but I'm not willing to fully admit it. I have been counting on Zoilus to keep me abreast of all his comings and goings. Go there to check out interviews and such. Here is Pitchfork's take on the whole Final Fantasy phenom.

I just love the music, and for anyone else who thinks that the indie rock can get a little boring sometimes, this is for you. There is so much to listen to, and it really gets the mind working. I can totally hear his "composition" training here, and I must say that I was blown away to find out that he taught HIMSELF to play the violin in university.
Um, WOW.
It's not an easy listen at all, and there is plenty of diversity there, though some might think that it all sounds the same. Not true.
Just to get you really hooked, here is another one.
I sure hope that he comes to Vancouver sometime soon. I will be there...
...unless I jam of course.

Happy Easter to everyone

This is a drawing done by my friend Carrie Walker. She's a fantastic Vancouver artist who has a nice spread in the latest Bordercrossings magazine. You'll have to buy a copy though, 'cause their webpage doesn't seem to be updated.
She gave it to me because it reminded her of my daughter. We often trade things, and I just love it. Though it's not on the wall, it has been sitting out with us for at least 2 years now. I move slow on some things.

I cannot tell a lie......

I jammed on the Destroyer show. Sold my ticket to my neighbour. They are gonna revoke my indie rock card!

I just couldn't face the idea of the next morning. I know......I'm a loser baby.....so why don't you kill me!

This Night

It's finally here. The moment Vancouver has been waiting for. Well, I had been waiting for last Saturday night, but hey, it's always good to have a few things to look forward to. After much waffling and jesting about selling my ticket to the highest bidding beardo, I am gonna get gussied up and hit the town. To the bar with the nastiest loo that I will venture into.....ack, but enough about that. Who thought there'd be a day when I'd miss the Starfish Room.

So I'm trying what Ian suggested about the music thing. In keeping with the spirit of all things Destroyer, this song is one I obsessed about recently mostly for the guitar line. I don't know why I love it so, but I do tend to focus on parts little parts or what have you....so it's an old favourite...Sublimation Hour
I hope this works. Let me know. I know it's not ideal....but I'm still a rookie.

I'd better have a nap!

across the tracks

The other day I was walking through some nasty stuff en route to get an overpriced coffee at a generic yet addictive franchise, when I noticed some guy in a station wagon cruising me. It's pretty bad when you are obviously walking a dog, yet some creep thinks that you might be working the streets. So as I became aware, I took a good look at him and started to laugh to myself.
It was Tubbs Tattsyrup, from the League of Gentlemen.

Of course I was no longer spooked, 'cause the guy was too funny with his big curly wig and super oversized lady glasses. Yoshi and I just laughed to ourselves and continued along our ramble.

that would be good

It's nice to see the Battles getting so much love. It's been a long time without 'em.

Go over to popsheep and check out their site. I have to learn how to post songs from my own 'puter. I'd like to put a song on here...'sigh.

You CAN go see a pic of their last show here.

On another note, it's been a busy morning. Street theatre, the police, and a woman with a cat carrier were all involved. Plus, I just saw some really ruff lookin' lady pluck every flower from the garden across the road. Grrrrrr.
Thankfully, we have a cocktail date at 4:30 that accepts toddlers. m hm....!

Vancouver's shitty drivers: keepin' the stereotypes alive!

So my child is not yet 3, and she has already been hit by a car while riding in her bike trailer enroute to daycare. It happened on the bike path. How fucking stupid! I don't understand why cars need to compete for space on the bike path when there are so many other streets in the city, but there they are; racing for the lights, looking for a short cut, and downright not respecting the rights and safety of cyclists and their cargo...aka, children.
The moron who hit my husband and child was stopped at Templeton high school, and almost hit the cyclist in front of my husband. Then, still confused as to who would have the right of way, he accelerates into my husband and daughter. Does this guy have a license? He certainly doesn't understand the rules of the road.

The whole route was disrupted while firetrucks and police officers arrived on the scene. I believe that it was better that this happen to my husband, as I would have likely dragged the old man from his vehicle and induced some bodily harm. The attitudes of some drivers in this city really pisses me off. Especially as I am a pedestrian for work during the day, and I can't even cross with a green light safely. I would rather j-walk across 6 lanes of traffic and a cement divider than trust that cars will obey the signals at an intersection.

I guess I just needed a rant, but really, it's a great headache. Now my husband has to run all over the city pricing and estimating for the ICBC nonsense, and his bike, less than a month old, has a bent frame and other issues. ARRRGH!

*damn, I wish this thing had grammar check!

Too Posh to Push

I heard this phrase on the radio today and it keeps resurfacing in my brain. arrgh. no comment.

I saw these two old Chinese ladies around some knitting that I put outside, and I was trying to see what they were doing.
At first I thought it was some kids, so I was gonna tell them to take a hike, but as we got closer, it became evident that they were two Grandma's with their matching backpacks and hats. Not trucker hats, though they also are very popular amongst the senior set around here.

It got me thinking about setting this stuff free out there. I like to see it around, but don't know how to say adios. Like that excellent piece at the corner of Main and Union that was just stucco'd over one day. And to think that I had planned to liberate it. Another can of worms for a person that knows no etiquette about such things. Anyhoo...it was a great painting just mounted onto the side of a building, and there was a matching one on the other side of the building. They were awesome, but when they did the half assed Reno, they just stucco'd right over the two of them. bummer.

Some boring business owner decided that it would be better to paint over this gorgeous mural. boo to them!

Have fun at the Pink Mountain Tops tonight!
Can you do that dance?

saturday night.....

the battles played an amazing show at The Railway Club last night. It was a great night out. Saw so many folks, and even took in an opening a Lucky's beforehand.

The Battles had a completely new lineup, but no unfamiliar faces, and they rocked it out for sure! It was mostly new material, except for maybe one song that I could tell. Though the Espresso martinis had taken hold by that time.
It was impossible to miss Chloe Sevigny and Stephen Rea in the bar. All around, a great night! Even with the loss of an hours sleep!

Guilty Pleasure Mon

I'm just going to come right out and say it........I love the new Sinead O'Connor album.
It's called Throw Down Your Arms.....but she says Trow Down Yer Arms.

It's fantastic!!!!! Did I mention that it's a reggae album? Yup, but I still love it! Though I will resist playing it 'til even the very last moment as though....bleh....reggae.
But it's GOOOOOOOD, and infectious, and therapeutic; powerful and political and positive, but usually ruined by the goofs in university who play too much Bob Marley. So this is where I would insert the nifty link to my free page, which I know not how to do, where I would post some of the amazing tracks off the album....like Y Mas Gan, Vampire, Downpressor Man, War....there is some seriously good stuff here!
Check it out, and be a closet reggae fan like me.

ugly stuff

Sadly, sometimes you need to weed out the people in your life that cause you grief. I make no claims to being an expert in human relationships and all, but last night I was floored by my 3 year old. She asked perfectly by name about a certain person, where this person was, and where their kids were and what were they doing?
My husband had the same experience a day or so earlier.
It was incredibly sad...a succinct reminder of the irrationality of emotions and such....stubborness, forgiveness, trust, etc......bleh
It is very difficult to explain adult logic, to a child so I just didn't even bother. I just answered her questions to the best of my ability and carried on with the bedtime routine. It was completely flabbergasting in it's clarity.

on a lighter note, it couldn't be a nicer day!

The Feeding Frenzy Continues

I watched some of the open houses this weekend, and then spotted some friends of ours who were scouting around here. They have sold their 2 bedroom condo, but haven't yet found anything new so they are negotiating to possibly rent out their old place. Yikes! Anything can happen.

The WISH group has sparked a real discussion with the 'parental information sharing group' that we're connectied with here in the hood. Someone had written a letter to the effect that we didn't approve of the location, and that it would cause every creepy john in the universe to just circle the building until the ladies hit the street again. So "no" we weren't in agreement with it.

It wasn't long until emails started rolling in stating the opposite in fact. That yes, we do approve of this facility being nearby. It's such a touchy subject, but seeing the amount of violence to women that goes on around here on a daily basis, you can't help but think that resources are not the problem.

We did decide that this parentall group should stick to information sharing, and not making political decisions for all.
It's easier to just stick to the real estate rants really. Argh.

Vancouver Special

With the news being extra heinous of late, I am finding it too difficult to be aware. I wish that I could just live glazed, without the burden of whatever it is that makes you recognize the supreme ugliness of humanity. It is a struggle everyday to stay positive.
I guess this is why we have music, and books, and art. They are distractions from the stuff we don't want to recognize. Or recognize, if you're into that kind of thing. I am sometimes.

I'm just going to go on a rant here for a minute, and it's mostly local, so I'll understand if you bail.I was browsing the Vancouver Heritage site today, mostly out of interest, and stumbled upon some upcoming proposals. I'm not diving into the heritage society, but I'm glad that some people out there are interested in maintaining some of the character of old time Vancouver.

It's getting ugly in East Van, where all sorts of cute post ww2 homes are getting bulldozed down at an alarming rate. And I'm not talking about the infamous, and bland Vancouver Specials. Anyhoo....what they are replaced with is atrocious to the eyes. Large mouldy stucco boxes.

Here in our hood, I passed by a place up for 1.8 million. And there are hookers literally 2 blocks away. It's ruthless. The greedy broad that purchased the place only 2 years ago got it for something a little more than half a million. It boggles the mind.

"I can't tolerate people"

Perhaps the best thing that I overheard today.

On the old dog walk this afternoon I saw some guy talking with another guy who was karate kicking the air, with his fedora hat pulled way down low, and just as I passed, I overheard,
"yeah, I can't tolerate people. I just can't tolerate them. The doctor says I'm intolerant"
So, uh yeah. He says it like it's some sort of affliction. Hahahaha. I don't know, I just find that ridiculous. And entertaining in a warped way I guess.

Anyhoo.....moment's like those, I wish I had the recorder hooked up. It would be great to have on tape.

That reminds me of the great move The Conversation.
Gene Hackman.
1974.
Definitely worth checking out!

light rain my arse

Besides, it isn't light when you're in it for 4 odd hours or so. I was fully decked out in all the gear today too. Magic wicking shirt, vest, goretex jacket, long underwear, goretex pants, and the to top things off......the G I A N T yellow cape. It is truly a sight to behold.

It was nasty, with mixed slush and rain at times. It was slippery. And I only fell once, but I'm not writing it up out of fear of some sort of hassle. So hopefully the old injuries won't flare up again.

I also found $5.
So it pays to walk around all hang dog looking at the ground.

Felliniesque

Yesterday was SO bizarre.
It started with a body under a bridge.

There was a group of men in dark clothes all standing on, and looking over this railway bridge near where I work. I was walking and looking, and knew immediately that something was up. The police tape was another indicator. So I stopped at the gas N go place, and who should walk in but the friendly neighbourhood pedophile. Of course I befriended him immediately, 'cause he seemed like a nice old guy, then some other neighbour gives me the "pssssssst, he's a serious, convicted, and served his time pediphile you know".

"Oh."

So leave it to me to meet some freak like that. He still talks to me, and I try to be civil. Guys like that should be peeled.

The day finally culminated with some Felliniesque street theatre of drug dealers and their entourages dancing and scratching in the street, as movie filming displaced them from their usual haunts. It is truly a sight to behold, but a little too close for comfort when it's right in front of your house. So I called the cops a few times, and just watched from behind the glass with my coffee cup. I am such a voyeur it's not even funny!
Cat power is finally growing on me. I have a real love hate relationship with the girl. But the music sure gets stuck in the brain!
