take me out

Wow!!!
Had a night out last night, at a little Jewel in Gastown.
It was a private birthday party, in a great space, with one of those lap top djs.
Gotta love the lap top dj!!!

A totally hilarious thing happened...this girl at the party said, did you used to play music?, 'cause I used to work at the (now defunct) Sugar Refinery. It was a total trip, and I laughed my head off, 'cause it was so damn ridiculous.
The food was great, the folks were FINE and at times the music wasn't bad either.
Sadly, because I wasn't in a dancin' mood, everyone seemed determined to get me onto the floor, which was a piss off actually.
I hate that shit.

Now if they'd been playing New Drug Queens by the Pink Mountaintops

There is no colour out doors these days. Every thing is muted and brown and grey mostly. I decided to buy some yarn and will start to make some felted bags. More to come~

Hey, I just noticed that the Battles just released their album Tomorrow's Eager Hands. I know it's been done for ages.

Voting Day in Canada eh!!

It's that time again, and it's here all too soon.
The entire campaign has been a mess.
Adults behaving badly, scandal, etc etc...but what's an election without corruption?
I'm excited to sit around this evening and watch the results roll in, though I'm sure that I haven't backed a winner. Well, our candidate WILL win in our East Vancouver riding, but as for a healthy showing in Ottawa, it's not looking good. Our 3'rd party candidate always wins, but it's essentially a 2 party country at the moment, so I'm not hopeful.

One of the problems seems to be that Canadians are notoriously conservative, but not in a government sanctioned executions, anti choice, anti immigrant sort of way. We don't really go for that bible thumpin' up heref. Our probable new leader will be a supreme lackey to 'merica for sure, and I'm not sure that he's the best person to represent us around the world. He's a classic YA HOO from one of our Western provinces, but to his credit, I believe he has been off the continent at least once, which is something that Dub'ya wasn't able to boast during his election to office. What is up with that?!?

Oh well, people are scared to vote for who they really believe in, considering it a wasted vote and all, but I'm not letting that trouble me. I'm not lookin' to be a winner, though it would be nice.....I'm just lookin' to keep it real. Cheers. !

I'm so glad that I saved these stats......it's a reminder of how much time I sat and stared, and accomplished, well....nothing.
I did meet quite a few folks, and might even greet them in the flesh when I journey to southern Cali this spring....mebbe.
But hopefully I can use this time in a more creative and productive way. I'll still be taking pics though, and I am still knitgirl, and I am on flickr...so there's just no need to be sad. mitya!
I thought I would lose track of everyone too, but then I saw you'd found me here!!! I really should say goodbye to some other important peeps at buzznet, but I'm gonna let some time and space happen before I do that.

the end is the beginning

"The Reproduction Of Death"

Won't you forget about me when I'm gone
The reproduction of death drags us all along
Close your eyes and pretend that nothing's wrong
Won't you forget about me when I'm gone
Stomp your feet, nod your head and we all move on
Close your eyes and pretend
Hey won't you sell me like cheap bubble-gum
I'm going out of my head
Won't you forget about me when I'm gone
The reproduction of death forces us all in line
An installment plan on a slow suicide
Won't you forget about me
Hey won't you sell me like cheap bubble-gum
I'm going out of my head
Won't you forget about me when I'm gone
Lost all hope and dreams in this killing zone
Won't you forget about me when I'm gone
Lets pretend that we all get along

somewhere between 21 and 28 days

It's official, I have become one of those people that whines about the weather. It has been raining everyday for something like 25 days now, and the record is 28, so I say BRING IT ONNNNN. It's demoralizing to wake up in the dark and hear it relentlessly pounding on the roof. Then to think that I'll be working out there. But hey, it's a rainforest, or was.....so suck it up, eh?

I am coping by listening to pod casts from the Ricky Gervais website.

Gotta keep the positivity bubble intact...

At my day job, I deliver the mail to a half way house that is affiliated with the prison system.
I don't really think too much about it, or the blokes that live there, or what have you, but there is a new 'client' there who enjoys walking around the yard with some headphones on singing loudly, and it totally makes my day.
It's totally hilarious, and a real mood booster when you're just enacting the grind everyday.

Some days he strides around and poses, as if he's doing some routine......
and other times, he'll put his arms up behind his head and say "whoooot" and gives me/us/the universe a 'Brittany Spears Special' pelvic thrust.
It's really quite enjoyable.

I was speaking to one of the employees there and mentioning how it's a real pick me up to see this some days, and she laughed and mentioned that the neighbours were livid and really cranky about the whole situation of the guy singing in the yard all day.

Come on people. Couldn't it be worse? I mean, when does the complaining stop?
